I was about to cross the road this morning when I noticed a black, sports car tearing down toward me. I quickly jumped back on the pavement and as the car passed me, the very attractive driver threw me a grin and made a spanking gesture implying that I had been a very naughty girl for nearly getting in his way.
I almost melted right there on the street.
Are you ever flattered by behaviour that could be interpreted as derogatory to woman? Or is it just me?

You are too funny Hope. I have to say yes…I don’t know exactly what. I’ll have to get back to you on that one.
I’m not too flattered about things like this, to be honest. Normally I find it disgusting, because it’s like… how should I put it. I wouldn’t want to come across with this kind of a guy in an empty street at night. But that’s probably my stereotype. :P Hungary is not that safe when it comes to this.
Are you sure it wasn’t the car you were impressed with? I find that a nice car or the ability to play guitar can make even the biggest asshole suddenly much more attractive.
I’ll hate to admit it, but yes, I do sometimes feel flattered when I think I shouldn’t be (for feminism’s sake).
I think, at the end of the day, women just want attention and to know that they’re pretty/beautiful/physically attractive/whatever enough to garner attention – of any type.
Sad I know. But that’s me.
I’m not, but that’s because it never comes from men I find attractive! :)
You’d have been infuriated if he’d been old and ugly.
Beautiful people can get away with so much more.
I’m with you on this one, Hope. I know it’s “wrong,” but sometimes I really enjoy being objectified. Feminism be damned.
like getting honked at? um, yea. i’m like HOW RUDE and the OOOOOH THEY HONKED AT ME WOOHOO!
also, i am not a feminist at all.
Although I’d be the first girl to spill a drink in a guy’s lap if he made a derogatory remark to me at a bar or, god help him, grabbed my ass…I LOVE when guys do gentlemanly things like open the door for me and things of that nature.
Yes, of course I get flattered in these situations… But not when they’ve tried to kill me before the incident. And most of the time, I don’t let them understand I’ve been flattered – otherwse they’ll start allowing themselves too much.
Cat calls make me swoon. I’m serious and I hate myself (just a little bit!) for it!
I find it a bit scary actually, especially if the guy was a lot older. There’s always a rape case in the news in Malaysia. If the guy was hot and young however… That’s a different story of course hehe. But i’d still give him A Look. Because it’s still just RUDE.
Oh yeah..sometimes when there’s a cat call ( and oddly enough it’s geared my way) I smile and grin instead of get pissed…
If it was me I would have looked for the first large object to heave at him… but then again I’m sure if it was me standing there and not you the guy wouldn’t have made the same gesture.
either way things would have been tossed in his general direction!
haha I’m with Kristen – I think both things!
but sometimes they’re not cute – and it’s like… ewwwww
Hey boy hey! It’s flattering – cute or not – that only determines whether or not you give him that glowing smile back.
That kind of thing irritates the hell out of me! And, yes, I’m a feminist.
