Remember me

I’m the one who wrote you love letters. The one that reminded you of Demi Moore. You held my hand so gently. I’m certain that if I had stayed you would have been just as gentle with my heart.

I’m the one who said, “A final question. Do you like avocado?” “Yes” you said. “You’re perfect.” I replied. I’m also the one you lied to. Allegiance to avocado is no longer a deal breaker, but being lied to is.

I’m the one that loved you. “You’re the one” you said. I’m the one that cried, “I’ll always love you, even if you don’t.” You didn’t. And now, I don’t.

I’m the one that drew you in with my words and then with my smile. I’m certain that if you had stayed I would have been drawn in by your words and your smile.

I’m the one who let you kiss me on the steps of a dorm room. I’m the one who ushered you in, seductively, and then promptly shoved you out the door. I wasn’t ready for the weight of a different man on me.

I’m the one in the red dress with the flower in her hair. The one that dumped you over a cup of coffee. I always have trouble remembering your name.

I’m the one who fell off the step machine. I’m also the one that slammed her head into the locker door. You made me nervous.

I’m the one that likes Bubble Bobble. The one that made you promise to remember her name. The one who still remember yours. I want to find you.

I’m the one that slipped you my number in a matchbox. The deceptively petite one. The one that stopped waiting. The one that does not miss you. But rather, misses the one I was when I was with you.

I’m the one with the long, brown hair. The one sitting in a corner that no-one else can see. Hoping you’ll find me.

And never want to let me go.

  1. This was so achingly sincere. Whatever guy finds you, and decides that you’re the one he wants to fight to keep you? Whoever realizes all that you have to offer? That guy will be one lucky man. You are absolutely amazing.

(Why does that sound like I’m hitting on you! Hah! I’m not. Promise.)
